THE PARKS OF NERVI
Freud sent his patients there to treat themselves observing beauty, art and nature. Nervi is now a residential district of Genoa.
It is a big park with many wonderful villas, European aristocracy’s Grand Tour destination.
We will visit the villas (only outside) located in the beautiful Park of Nervi, an oasis of green with rare trees and a valuable rose garden.
The park overlooks one of the most suggestive italian cliffs along the sea: on which there is a famous promenade. Walking along the promenade you can find observation towers, small caffe shops, beach clubs, museums, other villas and at the end a lovely little port with restaurants.
Today some of the villas are museums and they can be visited by the public with an entrance ticket:
Villa Serra, seat of the Modern Art Gallery, boasts a collection of important artists from the Romanticism, italian Impressionism, Symbolism, Divisionism, Futurism styles, which includes some of the interpreters of the twentieth century
Villa Grimaldi-Fassio hosts the Frugone Collections: paintings and sculptures of the Belle Époque with painters like Fattori, Signorini, Lega, Boldini, De Nittis, Segantini, Troubetzkoy etc.
This tour can also be done in 6 hours, completing it with a visit to one or both museums. Lunch in one of the small restaurants of Nervi, with typical dishes: fish or the local focaccia with cheese.
