Descrizione del tour:
This walking tour takes you through the narrow alleys of the old town, once headquarter of the merchants’ guilds, to discover the antique and historic shops. These shops are a treasure and they belong to the “ Albo delle Botteghe storiche” (a citywide register of the antique shops). They are located next to many genoise historical places that we can admire during the duration of the tour.

We will visit:

Rivara (1802) in front of the St. Lawrence cathedral. It maintains the antique original forniture. Here the same family have been selling fabrics called ‘Mezzeri’ (a typical printed cotton cloths)

Pescetto (1899)  the shop sells luxury clothes and maintains an amazing Deco style. It also has a special new-vintage warehouse and an old loom.

Giacalone A Barber Shop: (1908). a jewel of Art Deco from the 20’s. It has been owned by FAI ( Italian Environment Fund ).(An Italian Trust Found)

Lucarda (1920) una bottega di abiti per marinai, sopravvissuta nella zona del porto antico: la celeberrima Sottoripa famosa per le sue tipiche friggitorie.

Villa-Profumo (1827) The Profumo family has passed down the secret of local pastry-making and is located in one of the Rolli Palaces, Unesco World Heritage.

Luico A cork factory (1855). This family business continues today from the time of Garibaldi (an Italian hero of the XIXth) who used to be a customer.

Finollo (1899) is a wonderful “art nouveau” shop. It is famous for the ties worn by the Duke of Windsor, an italian scientist Guglielmo Marconi and a famous italian business Gianni Agnelli.

Farmacia Alvigini (1906) has a charming “art nouveau” cherry forniture piece and a precious and antique collection of pharmacy jars, mortars and scales




ANTIQUE SHOPS TOUR IN 6 HOURS: we retrace the stages of the 2h and 30 ‘tour with insights and adding other historical shops or monuments or the stops you find in the other tours.

This guided tour can be adapted to people with disabilities making minimal changes. It is also possible to rent, through your guide, a trishaw with driver able to enter the narrow alleys of the historic center.
