This is the ideal tour for those who love genuine cuisine and food. I shell offer you an unusual tourist experience through the places where the ‘Genovesi’ live and eat, with the options of:
* stopping in a bakery to taste the local focaccia
* resting your feet for a few minutes with an ‘espresso coffe’ at an historical coffeeshop
* resting in an authentic baroque room for a snack, so that you may feel like a native.


Tour stages:

In the old port and under Sottoripa porticoes we find the so-called “friggitorie”, where they sell fritters such as “friscieù”, “panissa”, fried shrimp and where you may taste some”farinata” (made with chick pea flour). Bakeries displaying “focaccia” and the Genoese “pandolce”.

With the fragrant aroma of spices and tea in the backround, we reach the Drogheria Torielli (a tiny spice shop with a vaste assortment of spices, herbs, the best coffees and teas).

We then reach Piazza Soziglia with its historic coffeeshop called Klainguti; They invented the so-called Falstaff brioches for Giuseppe Verdi.

Then we move on to Romanengo, a candy shop, known for its hand-made crystallized violets, marron glacés and jellies.

We continue towards Macelli di Soziglia street, once a district of the guild of butchers, still frequented by butchers, craft workshops and second-hand shops.

Then it’s time to visit Viganotti, a chocolate factory, where Alessandro (a master chocolatier) who still utilizes the original equipment (20th century) to make sublime chocolate.

Your taste buds could not wish for more! If you feel like walking a bit longer we may reach the Mercato Orientale, a covered food market frequented by the locals.

You may request lessons on how to prepare local Pesto! You may obtain olive oil and local wine tasting inside athe seventeenth-century palace (UNESCO heritage).

GASTRONOMIC TOUR IN 6 HOURS: this tour can be modified according to your request with a wine or food testing or any other visit of your choice that you will find on the site menu.

This guided tour can be adapted to people with disabilities making minimal changes. It is also possible to rent, through your guide, a trishaw with driver able to enter the narrow alleys of the historic center.
